Modular Thumb Implant
Features a patented two-piece design and is a clinically proven solution for CMC joint arthritis. The modularity of the implant allows for the head to be sized to the trapezium and the stem to sized to the metacarpal, independent of each other. Additionally, the offset head diameters allow for proper joint tensioning.
The implant design incorporates two other important features for an anatomically correct fit. The medial offset head aligns with the true centre of the trapezium to ensure proper joint alignment. The stem features a 15 ° varus angle which allows the head to maintain good contact with the socket during flexion and opposition, minimizing the chances of dislocation.
The stem is titanium plasma spray coated which allows for metacarpal bone in-growth into the stem. This key biological fixation feature ensures implant stability while eliminating bone erosion, implant migration and pain related to the metacarpal.
